Kurumba is a luxury waterfront resort in the Indian Ocean on the North Male Atoll in the Maldives. It was one of the first ever tourist resorts in the Republic of the Maldives opening in 1972 it pioneered tourism in the Maldives, and it re-opened in 2004 as a classic resort of luxury, elegance and style. The resort is named after the coconuts that grow in abundance throughout the island, and it Kurumba house reef is home to coral growing on ancient volcanic mountains and many different types of beautiful fauna.
Kurumba resort is located on a 48 acre island there are shaded paths which lead from one side of the island to the other, and white sand beaches surround the island offering crystal blue waters and a protected lagoon. The resort is unique and newly built to ancient Maldivian designs there are meditation pavilions, a succession of ornamental pools, corners of artistic stones, beautifully landscaped gardens, and shaded paths with overhanging palms. Kurumba offers a haven of peace and serenity like no other.
At Kurumba resort there are 180 bungalows and villas spread out around the island. They have polished wood floors, high timber clad ceilings and antique style wooden furniture. They all have a walk in dressing room, bathroom with sandstone tiles, marble-sided tubs and a second out door art-deco shower in a private patio. All rooms come equipped with safes, mini bar, satellite TV, high speed internet connections and luxury amenities.
