Castello di Magona, the residence of Leopold II Grand Duke of Tuscany, offers guests the opportunity to live as the Italian nobility of the 16th century in an original Tuscan castle, with all the modern conveniences and luxuries of the 21st century.

Located along the via Aurelia, looking out onto the Maremma coastline, just opposite the island of Elba, Castello di Magona is halfway between Lucca and Siena. It is just a short distance from many popular Italian tourist destinations and is along the much sought after eno-gastronomical route in Tuscany.

After a very careful restoration, the luxurious castle offers up to 14 double rooms, each unique in colour, layout, view and furnishings, yet all representing elegance and luxury and including modern conveniences you would expect in a five star hotel. The Castello di Magona sleeps up to 28 people and is available on an exclusive fully staffed basis only, with all 10 or 14 air-conditioned bedrooms at your disposal. The bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms, mini-bar, satellite TV, phone and internet access and a safe. Each beautiful bedroom includes antique furniture, hand decorated ceilings, frescoes and many precious objects.

The castle is open all year and in the summer period it is preferably rented on a weekly basis, full staff, as Exclusive Villa.

The Castle is accessible through a road, surrounded by cypress and pines trees, at the end of which the impressive gate opens onto the front garden. During the warmer months, across the entrance hall, the "Rose Garden" is the ideal place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At the end of the garden is a swimming pool overlooking a terraced olive grove and shaded by old pine trees open from mid May to the end of September. Around it, you will find a Spa Pool and an area with gym equipment.

Amenities & Activites

The fully staffed villa includes 4 staff for cleaning of the rooms and general areas. Available at an additional cost are a Chef and his assistant along with two waiters for the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch or dinner. A personal assistant is also available in the morning to handle reservations, tours or local visits. Linen and towels are changed twice a week. Castello di Magona offers its guests a range of facilities including an indoor and outdoor dining room, bar-lounge and swimming pool. On request, a range of activities can be arranged such as cooking demonstrations/lessons, hot air ballooning, golf, horse back riding, tennis, painting lessons, massages, private chauffeur driven car hire, guided tours to the local medieval villages such as Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci, Populonia, Massa Marittima, Volterra and to the nearby artistic cities of Lucca, Pisa, Siena and Florence, visits to the wineries and olive oil mills of the area's most famous producers and excursions to discover the beautiful coastline of the Tuscan Archipelago with the Castle's private day-cruiser.
