Luxury retreat Borgo Finocchieto, located on a rural hillside in the province of Siena in Central Tuscany is a meticulously restored medieval village available for private hire. This stunning 800-year-old village, the finest of its kind in Tuscany, has been restored by its present owners so that it looks almost exactly as it did 800 years ago but with every conceivable modern convenience. The owners imagine that family, intellectual, cultural, charitable or corporate gatherings at the Borgo will be a unique opportunity for their guests to assemble in a location that is perfect for relaxation and diversion, but also highly conducive to directed discussion and interpersonal enjoyment.
The refurbishment of Borgo Finocchieto took two years to plan, four years to complete and a team of professionals to ensure that the restoration remained as true to the original architecture as possible. Only the best local artisans, products and materials were used both in the renovation process and later to furnish the homes and buildings on the property. Borgo Finocchieto as it stands today consists of 22 bedrooms spread over a large manor house and four other separate homes and villas. The accommodation centers on a Piazza and the entire property functions as its own community. Gathering spaces within the grounds include a formal dining room and outdoor dining terrace, a living room with grand piano and study, screening room, library, bar, conference facility and ballroom for up to 50, cantina and wine tasting room, a professional teaching kitchen, an interior arcaded courtyard, a piazza, and extensive lawn and garden spaces with various shaded benches and a gazebo.
Located directly on the historically significant Via Francigena, the medieval pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Rome, the Borgo has long been a crossing point for farmers and families alike. Here, lying between the Eternal City and Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, the history of Western civilization is tangible in the surrounding walls and castle-studded landscape, which has remained unchanged for centuries. If its history is not romantic enough, visitors will be instantly struck by the view, uninterrupted and virtually unchanged for 1,000 years, and by the silence of this unique location available only to the privilege few for an unforgettable stay in the Italian country side.
While the Borgo looks virtually unchanged from its original state it is crammed with all of the up to date modern conveniences one would expect in an estate of this caliber including IPOD facilities in nearly every bedroom and full internet facilities throughout the property. It has an amazing state of the art fitness center jam packed with the latest equipment to keep guests busy during their stay. The Borgo has a 60ft swimming pool, a tennis and basketball court, a conference facility and ballroom for 50 people, a library, a study, a cantina, grand piano, media room, wine tasting room, professional teaching kitchen, concierge and business center, extensive lawn and garden spaces, Bocce Ball court as well as a full Spa: whirlpool, sauna, cold plunge, changing rooms and therapy room. The villa is surrounded by 200 Brunello Producers within a 15 Mile Radius. Wine tasting, hiking and biking through the surrounding countryside on the Borgos fleet of bicycles are just some of the activities available if you want to get off the property.
